W. A. Tarr Award

The W. A. Tarr Award was first announced in March, 1949 and has been the annual award of the Society of Sigma Gamma Epsilon since that time.  Recipients will receive a certificate and a $50 award. W. A. Tarr was the Grand Editor of The Compass from May 1920 when the first issue was printed until the time of his death in 1939.  It was largely through his efforts that The Compass became a success.  A list of previous Tarr Award recipients is located here.

The W.A. Tarr award application is due
April 1st and is to be submitted by the Chapter Advisor. Please allow a 3-4 week period to return the Tarr certificate to each chapter.  It is imperative that the date of presentation is noted on the form.  If no date is indicated, we will pick one or use the postmark (or email) date on the application.

Any active SGE member (dues paying) at a school in which an active
chapter is located is eligible to receive the award.  For a chapter to be considered active for the Tarr Award, they need to have paid dues during the current academic year.
